About Hamaseh Kianfar, Ed.D.
Hamaseh Kianfar, Ed.D., is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a Doctoral degree in Organization and Leadership from the University of San Francisco. She has extensive experience as a Licensed Behavioral Health Practitioner, a Clinician at Psychiatric Emergency, and a Clinical Supervisor in northern California. Dr. Kianfar has served as a commissioner for Marin County’s Human Rights Committee and is deeply committed to equity and the promotion of community-based social justice. She is certified in a variety of modalities, including Seeking Safety, Anger Management, Parenting for the Inside Out, Thinking for Change, Motivational Interviewing, and Restorative Practices. Her research areas include trauma-informed practices, community mental health, and cultural humility. She has participated in projects such as the Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Project at the University of California, San Francisco, the Stanford Forgiveness Project, and research with the Department of Neuroscience at the University of California, Davis. Her work in these projects has involved participant recruitment, data entry, and data analysis, particularly in examining the relationship between brain activity and autism. She has also collected data based on clinician notes and produced statistical data sets. Dr. Kianfar’s publications include *Living Positively: Narratives of Forgiveness and Imagination among Women with HIV* and *A Qualitative Study Examining HIV Antiretroviral Adherence Counseling and Support in Community Pharmacies*, among others. She has developed HIV outreach and educational programs for prevention in non-profit organizations across Thailand, Laos PDR, and the Union of Myanmar. She has also served as an HIV Medical Case Manager, creating home-based medical and psychosocial case management programs for homeless women living with disabling HIV and their children. Dr. Kianfar has collaborated with prominent humanitarian organizations, including UNESCO and Amnesty International, advocating for human rights with a special focus on women’s and children’s rights. A sought-after speaker, Dr. Kianfar has presented at numerous conferences, including the Parliament of the World’s Religions in Barcelona, Spain. She is bilingual in English and Persian and has working knowledge of French and Spanish.
